About Julia

I began my academic journey at the University of Toronto, completing a BASc in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Bioengineering, while playing for the Varsity Women's Softball team. During my undergrad, my research spanned biomaterials, pharmaceutical formulation, and drug delivery systems. I'm now continuing on at U of T as a PhD student in the Maikawa Lab, developing microgels for targeted drug delivery in inflammatory bowel disease. Outside the lab, I love to run, read, explore vegetarian cooking, travel, and still make time for intramural sports now that my softball days are behind me.
